The Sarah Cook Fund – Splash and Dash Charity Event
The Sarah Cook Fund of the Cedars Cancer Institute for Children was founded by parents Norman and Lorena following their daughter’s diagnosis of Ewing’s Sarcoma, a malignant bone tumour, in 2000.
Inspired to look beyond their own challenges to fully appreciate the pressing needs of the Hematology/Oncology Department of The Montreal Children’s Hospital, the mission of the Sarah Cook Fund is to help fulfill the long-term needs of the Department — to help its young patients and their families through times of crisis and be a place of compassionate healing for sick children in need.
The Fund has directly supported the Hematology/Oncology Department, with positive results including state-of-the-art upgrades of treatment rooms, research labs and funding for “Sarah’s Floor”, the new Hematology/Oncology in-patient ward at The Children’s.
Through special events, personal and corporate funding as well as donations from local communities and friends, the Fund has raised over $2 million.
Sarah is now doing well and is an enthusiastic high school student who, through her fund, wants to help others who are going through the same experience she once endured.
Britton Electric is proud to be one of the yearly sponsors for the Splash and Dash Event, supporting The Sarah Cook Fund.
