Weekend to End Breast Cancer

The Weekend to End Breast Cancer takes place yearly, during one weekend in August, when thousands of women and men come together in a 2-day walk to raise funds benefitting the the Jewish General Hospital and the Segal Cancer Centre. These world-class facilities make a difference in the lives of breast cancer patients and their families across Montréal and throughout Québec who regularly turn to them for life-saving assistance.

Funds raised are primarily directed to breast cancer research at the Jewish General Hospital, an international leader in the fight against cancer and a McGill University teaching hospital.

Britton Electric is proud to have become involved in the Weekend for the first time in 2008 with its 10 person team, led by Ron D’Aprile and then again in 2009. With each member walking the 60 kilometers to honour someone they know who has been touched by the disease, the Britton team was overwhelmed by emotion as they walked the pink carpet completing their 2 day journey.

To help raise the sponsorship funds, many Britton events were organized. One in particular called for a ‘close cut’. Organized by Francine Gélinas, Administrative Assistant, donations from the Company’s suppliers were secured, as 7 male Britton employees had their heads shaved. Special mention must go to Eddy Specogna who parted with his 17” ponytail in support of the cause.

In 2009 Perry Britton was a Co-Chair of the entire Montréal Weekend to End Breast Cancer event.
