General Manager

Ernest (Ernie) Shapiro is one of the original key executives that built the strong foundation of Britton Electric. Today, he is still active in the business, on a reduced schedule, and focuses his time on customer relations as well as managing several special projects where clients benefit from his wealth of experience.

Mr. Shapiro joined the company in 1965 as a partner to the company’s founder, the late Harvey I. Britton. He was instrumental in the expansion of the company and played a pivotal role in the successful completion of the multiple projects awarded to Britton Electric at Montréal’s World Fair, Expo ’67.

Over the course of his 4 ½ decade career, Mr. Shapiro worked with two generations of Brittons. Known for his ability to ‘always deliver’, he brought his trademark clear thinking and straightforward approach to numerous landmark projects.

Mr. Shapiro graduated in electrical engineering from McGill University in 1954. He has been married for 51 years and has 3 children and 7 grandchildren. His interests include tennis, bridge, travelling and writing.
