Le Conservatoire de musique et d’art dramatique du Québec

We were awarded 3 individual contracts at Le Conservatoire de Musique over a two-year period, which demonstrated our versatility and high customer satisfaction.

The electrical requirements in concert halls and rehearsal halls were complex and challenging. We are proud that these installations can compete easily with any world-class performing arts centre.

Additionally, the work included renovation of all the classrooms, amphitheatres and the library. We upgraded the power distribution, installed cabling for the IT networks, and the alarm and fire systems.

Remarkably, all of the students’ activities were maintained while the work was done. This called for on-going and precise co-ordination between the client and the multiple trades.

Named for the first president of the CMEQ, the award was created in 1988 to honour a person who, by their extraordinary involvement and commitment, has significantly contributed to the development of the Corporation.

Recent projects

Westin Hotel

Britton Electric was responsible for the complete electrical distribution at the Westin Hotel in downtown Montréal. We designed an innovative solution that improved efficiency and reduced costs, combined our expertise in both new construction and renovation, and, very importantly, we worked as part of a larger team to meet the client’s needs.

Britton Electric receives top Shell Canada Safety and Security Award in the Province of Québec.

Shell Canada takes its Safety and Security Awards very seriously. “Safety is not a priority at Shell — it is at the very core of our business,” said Axel Dyckerhoff, Retail FMC Manager, North America Network for Shell Canada Products during an award presentation recently held in Montréal at the Britton Electric offices.

We are extremely proud that Britton Electric has been named Shell Canada’s Safety and Security 2009 Award recipient, given to only one company in the entire province of Québec.

Mr. Dyckerhoff continued, “I am privileged to meet a group of electricians who demonstrate that safety and security is of the utmost importance. It is clear that safety is part of the culture of Britton Electric from top management, project managers and foremen, right to the electricians who are on the front lines performing the work. This is not just ‘talk’. This performance is demonstrated daily.”

The presentation was attended by the Britton service electricians; Daniel Daneau, Project Manager; Salvatore Tomasetta, Dispatcher; Ginette Beaudry, Britton’s health and security representative as well as Michel Lafontaine, Vice-President, Service and Technical Division and Perry Britton, President and CEO.

The award is in recognition of the outstanding work done at all the Shell Canada service stations in the Montréal region.

Le Port de Montréal

Britton Electric recently installed a high voltage transformer in one of the many silos located at the Port of Montréal. What made this job particularly challenging was that the transformer was brought to the site on a barge. Cranes were positioned on a floating dock and were used to lift the transformer off the barge and to place it onto the ground. From there, the transformer was lifted into the silo and installed.

Walter Surface Technologies – LEED

Britton Electric was chosen as the Electrical Contractor for the expansion of Walter Surface Technologies, a multinational corporation that invests in sustainable development and produces industrial products that respect the environment.

Doubling the area of its Pointe-Claire facility, the site is a certified LEED project (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design). Following internationally recognized state-of-the-art construction standards it led to an accreditation as a ‘Green Building’.

The LEED system involves many different building requirements, some of which directly related to the work done by Britton Electric. This included the use of non- toxic materials, the management of construction waste materials and environmentally responsible methods for recycling and removing of debris.
